How to admit your mistakes ?

Feeling embarrassed? Ashamed? Worried that your credibility is hanging by a thread? Take a deep breath. Here are the steps to follow.

How to admit your mistakes :

1. Allow yourself to feel awful

Ideally, after 15 seconds, the negative feeling should pass. A tiny shadow of negativity may linger, but in general, you get over the snafu.

2. Confront worst-case scenario

It can be helpful to confront your personal worst-case scenario, whatever that may be, so that you can make peace with it and move on.

3. Create a game plan

Evaluate what you need to do differently next time to make sure this same mistake doesn't happen again.

4. Earn back trust

The best way to earn people's trust and admiration is to consistently deliver great work.

5. Get introspective

Make a list of your flaws and ask yourself important introspective questions like "Why am I afraid to be vulnerable?", "Do I have patience?" etc.

6. Be open to critic

Dr. Hafeez says, "This skill involves taking the emotion out of the equation and looking at a scenario objectively."

7. Address it quickly

Addressing your mistake makes it less likely to fester and nips any drama instantly.

8. Don't grovel

When you act overly ashamed, embarrassed or affected by the wrongdoing, you will encourage others to take on this negative mindset, too.

9. Forgive yourself

How can you expect people to treat you fairly when you're not being fair to yourself.

10. Be direct

This strategy - being direct to the point and complete transparency - is the best way to convince them for your mistakes.
