How to Help others ?

We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give.

How to Help others :

1. Lend an ear to hear

We all deal with a lot of pent up emotions daily and sometimes all we need is someone who can hear us out or provide us the space to vent without any judgement. This can not only make the person feel good but helps build trust.

2. Share what you have

In terms of resources, knowledge or even food will not only help the other in need but in turn will help us connect more to people and build a network.

3. Give away something you don't use

Donate what you think you would not use instead of throwing them away. What might not be of our want might be someone else's need.

4. Teach constructive behaviour

If we encounter people leading very destructive, negative lives, we should never just dismiss, reject or condemn them. Instead of judging people, we should try to show ways to overcome negative behaviour if they're open to change.

5. Give material aid to poor

We need to overcome any reticence we might have, especially if homeless beggars appear to be dirty and unattractive. We don't even want to look at them, yet alone smile and treat them with respect. How can we just cold-heartedly pass them by as if they were some piece of smelly trash ?

6. Repay the kindness

It's important to appreciate all the work of others that makes the world run, and try to help those - like our parents - who've done so much for us. This should be done with sincere gratitude, not just out of a feeling of guilt or obligation.

7. Volunteer at a food bank

There are so many exciting and rewarding ways to help at a food bank : Distributing or repackaging food, nutrition tutoring, delivery, fund raising, clerical work, face time with clients or stocking food. Volunteering at a food bank probably won't make us millionaires, but it that's okay because with all the gratitude recieved, we'll be living an abundant life.

8. Offer kindness proactively

An act of kindness, any simple gesture can improve someone's day. Call a friend to see how they're doing. Check in on an elderly neighbour or bring dinner to someone who has been facing illness or a tough time.

9. Say 'Thank You'

Send a quick note telling someone how much you appreciate them. You can also help others feel better about themselves by showing your appreciation publicly. Praising another in front of family or coworkers can have an impact that lasts beyond the moment itself.

10. Give people transparent feedback

Transparent feedback can be tough because some people don't take constructive criticism well. Give them good examples of how they can improve. By doing this, you will help them and improve their efficiency and success in the long run.
